For most of our trip (and four of the six years preceding it), we’ve been carless.
One of the benefits of being without a car is that it pushes me to explore (and often get lost in) my immediate surroundings. Moving slowly and meeting people is such a different experience than being in a quickly moving metal pod.
I went to Alexandros Riding Stables for a trail ride last week, which was lovely in all ways. I left with some amazing fresh goats’ milk too, courtesy of these goats and their kind owner.
We’ve eaten lots of yummy things in Cyprus! Here are some of our favorites thus far.
It’s been coolish during most of our stay in Cyprus, so we haven’t spent too much time by the pool. (Plus, when I have the choice, I’d generally rather be at the beach.)
This post is a bit of a ramble. Then again, so was my trip.

We spent most of our time in Cyprus in Pissouri, a village in the south part of the island. On our first morning, we walked into a charity shop in search of decent cookware. I recited γεια σας, γεια σας, γεια σας (hello in Greek) over and over in my head to prepare myself…
We spent our last two nights in Cyprus in a set of cabins right by the beach in a kind of camping-light experience. To get to our lodging, we drove down a gravel street of several dozen completely empty cabins, RVs, and shacks. Based on the lack of company, it seems most people don’t consider this beach weather. That’s okay; it meant we had the beach to ourselves and got to wear our pajamas while eating seaside breakfasts.
We arrived in Stockholm last Sunday around 1 am, cleared customs, and joined the taxi line with all of the other late arrivals. After about 30 minutes of waiting, we were all cold, tired, and a little disoriented, but we had finally reached the front of the line.
