Our Internet-for-work needs pretty firmly anchored us in tourist-land Bali, rather than the less developed north. Still, our neighborhood of Sanur makes for beautiful, interesting walks. For example, on the way to Theo’s preschool we generally pass statues, chickens, cows, and approximately a million motor bikes, some carrying whole families. The scents as we walk switch rapidly between incense, burning plastic, ocean, mosquito coil, and flowers.
Sanur Beach
We visit the nearby beach several times a week. The water sprawls out shallow and warm for ages -it’s warmer than our shower, by far. There are restaurants dotting the shore where we can sit and sip coconuts, cocktails, or coffee, or eat dinner if we want. Otherwise, we can just plop ourselves onto the sand.

I was planning to post much more about our final experiences in Indonesia, but after lots of travel hijinks and having my web hosting account hacked, I’m feeling severely behind in almost all aspects of life right now. So, here are some photos for now!
Happy Diwali
Because we were delayed in Kuala Lumpur (KL) for an extra night, we got to see bits of Diwali celebrations in both KL and Delhi. (Travel advice: if you book your tickets ten months in advance, recheck your visa requirements before departure in case they have changed!)

Playing in Lodi Gardens
The family who owns our rental apartment was kind enough to take us out to explore yesterday afternoon. We ended the day at Lodi Gardens, where Theo and their three-year-old daughter borrowed a hose and a balloon as impromptu toys. (The balloon burst during play – luckily, the couple who had originally possessed it were extremely good natured.)

Books I Read About Bali While In Bali
Date Night
My mom is visiting us for almost two weeks and watched Theo last night so that Brian and I could go to dinner on our own. We went to Lodi – The Garden Restaurant and sat (we think) in the same seat where we had lunch on our first trip to India, about six years ago.
New Toys
We don’t obtain a ton of stuff, so Theo is often inspired to find joy in ‘toys’ like salad spinners and mops. However, we’ve picked up a few new toys in India: wooden stamps and a toy tuk tuk.
