We’ve eaten lots of yummy things in Cyprus! Here are some of our favorites thus far.
Rambutan
Costa Rica has tons of fruit stands with a wide variety of options, some familiar, some not. Definitely in the unfamiliar-to-us category was this fruit, which Wikipedia tells me is the Rambutan.
Buenos Aires Market
After almost a week of daily rain, it was lovely and sunny yesterday! To celebrate, we went to the Buenos Aires Market which was held at the posh Palermo polo fields this weekend. (Seriously posh. There was a woman who seemed to be assigned to sweep up the innocuous looking, small fuzzy things that were falling off of the trees.)
Soup
While our cooking patterns adapt a bunch each month depending on where we live and what’s available in the markets, we’ve made at least one batch of soup at every home except Costa Rica. (Heat and ant invasions do not encourage soup-making.)
Mercado de las Puglas
We ended up at Mercado de las Puglas because it was housing a farmers market for the weekend, but I ended up loving the antique/flea/restored-furniture market portion too, even though we’re definitely not in the market for any furniture.
Cooking in Thailand
Leaving India was hard, not the least because we love Indian food and were spoiled by the ubiquity of amazing vegetarian options. (Okay, we also were spoiled by having a really good cook.)
However, I’ve been surprised by just how much I’ve been enjoying Thai food as well – and after two cooking classes, how competent I feel at cooking several Thai meals at home.

Buying Food in Chiang Mai
There are both markets and supermarkets near-ish us in Chiang Mai, but the markets easily win in terms of better produce, cheaper prices, and more interesting sites.
Quick Snack
These bamboo sticks are filled with sticky rice and beans and then sold by the side of the road. Super yum.
Yogurt Coffee
We have only just begun our exploration of the apparently vast world that is Vietnamese coffee. This is yogurt coffee!
(Also, after 35 years of shunning it, Brian is drinking coffee now. Crazy, right?)
