The Kasbah des Udayas is a walled, protected region of Rabat. At various points in its history, the kasbah has been destroyed, reconstructed, deserted, and occupied by pirates.
Even though the kasbah is one of the most popular places for tourists to visit in Rabat, it’s also a place where people live and work. A man in a workshop kept shooing away tourists – “no photos, no photos.” However, when Theo came over to gawk at the two kittens playing on the stoop, the man smiled, and then came out to hold them for Theo to pet.
The kasbah is a lovely place to wander. The view is stunning too. The back overlooks beaches with surfing schools, football games, and general sand-inspired frolicking.
