Theo, Brian, and I have been getting our travel vaccines topped up at a clinic in Stockholm. Across the street from the place where they give vaccines, they have a clinic where you can see general practice or specialist doctors.
The Vasa Musuem
This is the lunch we ate at The Vasa Museum on Saturday. A brie sandwich with grilled vegetables, cream of mushroom soup with croutons, and ratatouille over lentils.
Skansen
Theo and I have trekked to Skansen three times thus far. Here are a few shots and thoughts from our visits.
Better Shadows
Brian seemed skeptical at first when I declared that the shadows are “better” here, but I think I’ve won him over to the idea that higher latitudes make for superior shadows.
Swedish Pastries
To my tastes, Swedish pastries are the best. (Yes, even better than France. Sorry France.)
The helpful and pastry-enthusiastic woman at Bröd & Salt explained that in Sweden, when they use a flavor, they very intensely use the flavor: cardamon, cinnamon, almond, or whatever. This philosophy seems pretty ideal to me, and probably explains why I like the coffee here so much too.
Rambling around Stockholm
Stockholm is great city for long rambles; when I traverse several islands, I can tell myself that I’m taking a journey, not just a walk.
Elements of a Home

Swimming in Iceland (with snow)
It’s been cold and windy since we arrived, so Theo and I have been regular visitors to Laugardalur, one of Reykjaviks many geothermally heated public pools. Most of the pools are outside, but they are warm enough that once you submerge yourself, you don’t really care that the wind is blowing snow your face. (It’s cheap too; it costs about $3 for me per visit with my 10-visit card, and Theo gets in for free.)
