Grand Adventures and Household Chores
Reflections on our family’s adventures as we live, work, and play around the world

The park near our house is perfect for relaxing, playing, or enjoying a takeaway lunch while soaking up some sun. Between the peach blossoms and the increasing warmth, it’s feeling very much like spring here in Taipei.

When I visited Japan almost three years ago, I couchsurfed with a family in Tokyo, and a six-year-old walked me through making model food with a candy kit.
Our hosts moved this lizard from their house to the garden, where Theo and I were playing. The lizard was very still, probably hoping that we would go away. Theo declared that he was going to watch until it moved.

Park Güell is probably one of the most famous (and most photographed) works of Gaudí. We had fun exploring with our good friends Jess and Steve!

Mopping is exciting enough to Theo that it can be used as a reward for completing other, less exciting activities. Would we take advantage of this? Well, maybe.
On the weekends, we’ve been enjoying the amazing parks and playgrounds in Berlin.
Some parks, like Jungfernheide, are huge and forest-y, with lakes where people can swim and splash. (Some people wear bathing suits, some don’t. Nudity seems much less taboo in Germany than anywhere else we’ve visited. At the DDR museum, there was a part of the exhibit dedicated to nude beaches in the DDR/GDR, complete with photos and videos. )
