For our first month, we are living in a cottage in a rural area near Skibbereen, Ireland. Very rural. Google maps refers to the road to the cottage as “unnamed road.”
It’s really stunning out here. We are surrounded by farmland, and more immediately surrounded by the lovely, whimsical garden of our Air B&B hosts, who live in the house next door. Theo loves the music area, tree house, and play set, as well as the visiting grandchildren, one of which is also named Theo. (I’m not sure that either of them believe us that they could possibly both be called Theo, but that’s okay.)
Inside the cottage, the kitchen is compact, but well stocked. In the picture below, Theo is arranging apples and cheese on a plate while Brian cooks veggie burgers.
I knew this, but it was still a jolt: Europeans typically don’t refrigerate eggs, so they are just sitting on a bowl on the counter. 
The cottage has one bedroom downstairs and then one bedroom upstairs. In our heads, the upstairs room had a door, but in reality, it’s an open loft. To prevent Theo from accidentally diving headfirst off the the second floor, we installed him in a nest (see second image below) in our room instead and have been using the loft area as an office.
Thus far, I’ve been mostly scrambling to keep up with projects while Brian and Theo have been hanging around the garden; we’ve driven into town a few times to pick up groceries, but have otherwise been mostly settling and picking up our household rhythms again.
